December 2011 releases   Cortex – The Whole Story Plinkity Plonk plink 031 Double Compact Disc Out Now Barcode: 7 53907 98339 2 In recent years there has been quite a renewed interest in the works of Belgium’s Alain Neffe and his Insane Music label, resulting in a 5LP for Vinyl On Demand, various 7”s for EE Tapes, a CD for Plinkity Plonk by Human Flesh. In all this curious revival one name from his past is absent and that is Cortex. This omission is now corrected by the release of this double CD, which tells us the whole story of Cortex. This is perhaps Alain Neffe’s most personal project in which he plays music on synthesizers, rhythm boxes, sound effects and writes the lyrics, which can best seen as poetry. This poetry is recited by various women: Tina Scatozza, Nadina Bal (of Bene Gesserit), Isabelle Yernaux and Mirella Brunello. Intimate music with a personal character. Most of these pieces are in French. The pieces were released on a cassette for Insane Music Contact and a whole bunch of labels around the globe, such as The Cassette factory, Aerosol, 3rio Tapes, Grafika, Fraction Studio, Discograph, Stack Orientation, Beast 666, Trax, Music For Midget, Colin Potter, Finger In The Dike, Tear Apart Tapes, Korm Plastics, Innersleeve and Gut Level Music. Plus there are nine previously unreleased pieces, all remastered by Alain Neffe. This double CD comes in a plastic wallet with printed inserts and is released in an edition of 300 copies. listen Price: 17 euros post-paid worldwide   DMDN – Kapotte Muziek by Korm Plastics kp 8098 7” single Out Now – only 50 copies available Barcode: who needs ‘m when you have 50 available? ‘This is number 5 in a series’ it says on the cover, although there are already 13 available. With an odd catalogue number – kp 8098. What the hell is going on? When Korm Plastics started the series ‘Kapotte Muziek by’, it was for friends to remix very specific recordings by Kapotte Muziek and quite early on it was decided that our friend DMDN should do one. Obviously a long term friend for all members of Kapotte Muziek, and co-bandmember of THU20. Enthusiastic he set to work and by the time he was ready to mix down what he had something broke down and everything was ruined. DMDN was no able to fix it, or repeat it and the whole project was shelved. On February 26th 2010 DMDN took part in the 25th anniversary activities at Extrapool as the DJ of the ceremony, using a variety of turntables, cassette decks, CD players all loaded with Kapotte Muziek work from those 25 years (and slipping in some Goem, but we don’t mention that) and out of the blue send us 2 edited highlights – ‘here it finally is’. Now the series started out as a 7” series, then turned CD, but to honor DMDN for just once we go back to 7” – we have 100 pressed up and co-release it with DMDN’s own Antenne Records (although no mention of that on the cover, but he has half the edition, so when in Tilburg, The Netherlands, move over to Noordstraat 82 to visit his excellent store, or visit www.antenne-tilburg.nl). Two excellent dense pieces of electronics colliding and bumping in the hazy night. This might be the final installment in this series, since we have no completed it.
